In Psalms 13 I envision not a hill but a mountain. I am no authority on mountain climbing but I have been facinated by many of the documented expeditions. It is always meticulously planned because it is never less than an arduous journey. Clothing, provisions equipment, climbing gear and the mountain itself are calculated choices. Most report it to be quite a painful experience. For some it is said to be agonizing. A few have even died during the ascent. All compelled by one elusive result. To arrive. Ironically, the mountaintop experience is shortlived in comparison to the climb. Their perseverance, skill, expertise, endurance, strength, even breathing are challenged and perfected during the climb. It seems my faith walk takes on some of the attributes of a mountain climbing expedition. No less safe, but since God has equipped me and everpresent....it is certainly secure in His mercy. My spiritual gifts, trust, growth, and security are fortified during the climb. Through this fortifying journey, I too will sing with the Lord one day. In a song of Ascension my heart shall rejoice in His salvation.
